Hot to Trot
Synopsis
Beloved New York Times bestselling author M. C. Beaton’s cranky and crafty Agatha Raisin is back with another irresistible mystery.
When private investigator Agatha Raisin learns that her friend and former lover, Charles Fraith, is about to marry the mysterious socialite Mary Brown-Field, she becomes determined to learn more about the bride-to-be. After finding little information about Mary, Agatha takes matters into her own hands and crashes the wedding.
The event ends in a public confrontation, and Agatha wakes the next morning nursing a hangover and regretting her behavior. Then Charles calls with shocking news: Mary has been murdered.
Drawn into the investigation, Agatha enters the competitive world of horse riding, where Mary had made both friends and enemies. As she digs into the victim’s past, she uncovers a trail of rivalries, grudges, and violent encounters stretching back years.
Suspects emerge from every corner of Mary’s life, including former riding competitors, old school acquaintances, and even members of her own family. Meanwhile, the police have their own theory—and Agatha herself is high on their list of suspects.
With time running out, Agatha must uncover the truth before the real killer escapes justice and she finds herself facing charges for a crime she didn’t commit.
