Agatha Raisin and the Perfect Paragon
Synopsis
After narrowly surviving attempts on her life by both a hired hit man and a former secretary, Agatha Raisin is hoping for a few quiet, uncomplicated cases at her detective agency.
So when Robert Smedley hires Raisin Investigations to prove that his wife is having an affair, the assignment seems refreshingly straightforward. But Agatha quickly runs into a problem: Mabel Smedley appears to be the perfect wife—young, attractive, devoted to her husband, and active in the local church.
Just as Agatha is ready to conclude that Robert’s suspicions are unfounded, he dies after being poisoned with weed killer. Suddenly, Mabel becomes the prime suspect, especially since she stands to inherit a considerable fortune.
With her client dead, Agatha has no reason to continue the investigation—until her old friend Sir Charles Fraith arrives and reignites her interest in the case.
As Agatha digs deeper into the mystery, she uncovers secrets, lies, and motives that suggest the truth is far more complicated than it first appeared.
