Book 1 - ISM

The world-building is rich and immersive, with a unique magical system that feels both logical and mesmerizing. The characters are well-developed, with distinct motivations that drive the plot forward. The story's pacing is well-balanced, moving seamlessly from action-packed sequences to thought-provoking moments of introspection. SBT did a fantastic job with production and Steve did a great job with the narration.

If you enjoyed Expeditionary Force by Craig Alanson, you are going to LOVE this series. I'll admit I put off reading ISM for a while just due to being upset that the author was working on concluding this series before finishing either of the other two series he got me sucked into. Once this ensemble became available on SBT, however, I had to give it a shot. The casts' treatment of this story is beyond reproach. The story truly comes alive in their voices and, I have to admit, even when reading the books that haven't been recorded yet, I'm still hearing the characters' voices as the narrators' in my head. Needless to say, I got sucked into this story so much that I dove headfirst into reading the entire series in a world where I increasingly have very little time to read anything.

I love interesting magic systems done well, and adore characters that can break common logic to do shit they really shouldn’t have been able to do. Macronomicon makes both those things consistently, and I cant get enough.

This is, in some ways, the best story around. It really needs a good editor, but the structure is remarkable and the creative context is quite clever.
